4,5-Difluorobenzo[a]Pyrene is a genotoxic compound that is used as a probe for aromatic compounds. It has been shown to induce liver tumors in mice and increases the risk of cancer in humans exposed to high levels of this chemical. 4,5-Difluorobenzo[a]Pyrene is a reactive compound that can form covalent adducts with nucleophilic groups on proteins, such as the hydroxyl group on amino acids or the phosphate groups on nucleic acids. The biological effects of 4,5-difluorobenzo[a]pyrene are not well understood. This compound has been shown to be carcinogenic in animal studies and may be used as biomarkers for exposure to this chemical. It also has potential use as an analytical reagent for aluminum and trifluoride ions.
