1,2-Diiodotetrafluorobenzene is an organic compound that is used as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of perfluorinated compounds. It has been shown to be a good acceptor for electron-donating groups and has been found to have high interaction energies with methoxy groups. The oxidation products of 1,2-diiodotetrafluorobenzene are formed by the addition of molecular oxygen, chloride ions, and hydrogen peroxide. The molecular structure of 1,2-diiodotetrafluorobenzene consists of two fluorine atoms bonded to two carbon atoms which are then bonded to three iodine atoms. This arrangement forms a linear chain that is stabilized by covalent bonds and hydrogen bonding interactions between the fluorine and iodine atoms.
