2,4-Dinitro-5-fluorophenylazide is a substance that is toxic to cells. It interacts with the threonyl-tRNA synthetase and inhibits its enzymatic activity. This leads to reduced protein synthesis and cell death by alkylation of guanine in DNA. The interaction between 2,4-dinitro-5-fluorophenylazide and threonyl-tRNA synthetase has been studied using constant control experiments. 2,4-Dinitro-5-fluorophenylazide is also active on mitochondria, where it inhibits the enzyme complex responsible for the synthesis of ATP.
