1,2-Dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoroethane is an inorganic chemical that is used as a solvent. It has been shown to be effective in catalytic reduction of nitrobenzene and other aromatic compounds. 1,2-Dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoroethane has a viscosity of 3.8 cP at 20°C and is used as a recirculating solvent for the production of dimethylformamide. The use of this chemical can cause liver damage in humans and animals. This chemical does not react with DNA or RNA but it does affect protein synthesis by inhibiting the activity of the liver microsomes.
