2-(Diethylcarbamoyl)-3,6-Difluorobenzoic Acid is a ligand that binds to the active site of the enzyme citrate synthase. The binding prevents the formation of an intermediate product and inhibits the activity of citrate synthase. The inhibition of this enzyme leads to a decrease in the production of oxaloacetate, which is necessary for ATP synthesis. 2-(Diethylcarbamoyl)-3,6-Difluorobenzoic Acid also has a hydrolyzing effect on propanil and other salicylanilides. It has been shown to hydrolyze at millimolar concentrations.
