[(2R,3S,5R)-5-(2,6-Diaminopurin-9-Yl)-3-Fluorooxolan-2-Yl]Methanol is a prodrug that is metabolized to the active form [(2R,3S,5R)-5-(2,6-Diaminopurin-9-Yl)-3-[(Phenylmethoxy)Methyl]Oxolan-2-Yl]Methanol. It is an inhibitor of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and has been shown to have antiviral activity against HIV in vitro. The mechanism of action for this drug is not yet fully understood but may be due to a direct interaction with the virus or inhibition of viral replication.
