This compound is obtained from the herb Scutellariae radix or Scutellaria baicalensis. The biosynthesis of 3,5,7,2',6'-Pentahydroxyflavanone is not well understood but it can be detected in the blood plasma of animals by using magnetic resonance spectroscopy assays.
