Descripción:Ethyl salicylate is a glycol ether that has been shown to be a stable complex with benzalkonium chloride. It can be used as an analytical method for the determination of salicylate ions in vitro and in vivo, and has proven to be a useful reaction mechanism for the synthesis of benzoates. Ethyl salicylate is also used as a preservative in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. The biological properties of this compound are not fully understood, but it is believed to have an enhancing effect on the activity of other compounds, such as benzalkonium chloride.
