Descripción:Ethyl benzoylacetate is a malonic acid derivative that can be synthesized by the reaction of ethyl benzoylmalonate with carbon disulphide and hydrochloric acid. It has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria. The mechanism of action is not well understood, but it may involve the formation of intramolecular hydrogen bonds, which are important in the inhibition of bacterial cell division. Ethyl benzoylacetate also exhibits fluorescence properties and reacts with phosphorus pentoxide to produce light emission.
