7-Ethyl-1H-indole-2,3-dione is a benzene derivative that can be used as a test compound in bioassays. 7-Ethyl-1H-indole-2,3-dione is structurally related to the natural product isatin and its reactive chlorine atom leads to the formation of new compounds such as 5-chloroisatin. The mechanism of action of this compound has been determined by injecting it into rats and measuring the levels of prostaglandin E2 and furan in their blood plasma.
