Ethyl 1H-imidazol-1-ylacetate is a chemical substance that belongs to the class of imidazole derivatives. It has hydrogen bond and alkylation properties and is used as an intermediate in organic synthesis. Ethyl 1H-imidazol-1-ylacetate is also effective against bacteria such as Proteus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Serratia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus aureus. The mechanism of action for this substance is not clear; however it has been shown to be active against Gram-positive bacteria at low concentrations. This may be due to its ability to inhibit the growth of bacterial cells because of its acid molecules or proton properties. Ethyl 1H-imidazol-1-ylacetate has been shown to have antitumor activity and can be used in treating various types
