Ethyl 2-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl)acetate is a chemical compound that is also known as ethyl glycol acetate. This compound is used as a catalyst in the production of polyesters, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET). It can also be used to produce caproic acid and fatty acids from glycerol. Ethyl 2-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl)acetate undergoes radiation with sodium carbonate to produce acetoacetate, which can be used for biomass feedstocks. This compound has been shown to have antioxidant properties and can be used in the production of pluronic p123.
