Ethyl 1-benzyl-3-oxopiperidine-4-carboxylate is a covalent inhibitor of dopamine receptors. It binds to the 5-HT4 receptor, which is involved in the regulation of neurotransmitter release. This drug has been shown to be a potent and selective ligand for the D4 receptor, which mediates the effects of dopamine on brain function. Ethyl 1-benzyl-3-oxopiperidine-4-carboxylate has been shown to have anticancer activity in animal models. The compound inhibits cancer cell proliferation by blocking DNA replication and inducing apoptosis, or programmed cell death. This drug also targets nitrogen atoms, amines, and carbonyl groups.
