Ethyl 3-amino-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylate hydrochloride (EC) is an organic compound that contains the amino acid pyrrole. EC is a colorless solid that has a melting point of 113.5 °C and a boiling point of 250 °C. The reaction temperature is usually between 100 °C and 130 °C, with a reaction time of 1 to 3 hours. This condensation reaction yields diethyl 3-amino-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylate (ED) as the final product, which can be cyclized to form ethyl 1,3-dihydroisoindole carboxylate (DIIC).
