2-Ethoxypyrazine is an organic compound that is synthesized by the nucleophilic attack of formic acid on ethylene. It has been shown to be a potent insecticide and kills insects by inhibiting their respiratory system. 2-Ethoxypyrazine has also been found to have neurotoxic effects, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cholinesterase activity. The elimination rate for this compound is slow and it can accumulate in the body, which may cause toxicity.
