Información del producto
- 2-Ethylhydantoin
- 5-Ethylimidazolidine-2,4-Dione
5-Ethylhydantoin is a synthetic drug that is used to treat epilepsy. It is an amide with a molecule that has two vicinal (adjacent) carbonyl groups. 5-Ethylhydantoin is also a member of the group of acid molecules, which have one or more acidic functional groups. The elimination reaction of 5-ethylhydantoin occurs in the microbial cell and involves the removal of water from the molecule. This process produces hydantoic acid, ammonia, and ammonium ions, which are then eliminated from the cell. This reaction generates a high yield of product and can be carried out at room temperature.
