3-Ethynylanisole is a synthetic compound that has shown to have high selectivity for the transcriptional activity of the aryl halide. It has been used as a lead compound in clinical studies on schizophrenic patients, as well as in synthetic chemistry. 3-Ethynylanisole is an organic molecule with two functional groups: a methoxy group and an ethynyl group. The first functional group is responsible for the solubility and reactivity of the molecule, while the second one provides it with its biological activity. 3-Ethynylanisole's molecular structure was determined by single-crystal x-ray diffraction at room temperature. It is believed that this compound may be synthesized from hydrothiolation of azides and alkenes.
