Ethenesulfonyl chloride is a chemical that is used as an inhibitor of amine oxidases in the treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. It also inhibits the formation of reactive oxygen species by inhibiting intracellular amines, which are required for the generation of reactive oxygen species. Ethenesulfonyl chloride is a nucleophile that reacts with protons from water to form a hydroxyl group, which can then react with chlorine atoms to form hydrogen chloride. This reaction results in the release of heat, which may be useful for killing bacteria or other microbes.
