Descripción

Endosulfan is a broad-spectrum insecticide that belongs to the group of organochlorine compounds. It has been shown to have high values in human serum, maternal blood, and terminal residues in crops. Endosulfan is highly resistant to degradation and can persist for many years in water and soil. The matrix effect may cause endosulfan contamination at low levels in the environment. Endosulfan has been shown to have high toxicity against humans and animals, with acute toxicities such as vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions, and death. Sublethal doses of endosulfan affect biochemical composition, energy metabolism, and ovarian activity. There are no analytical methods available for detection of endosulfan residues in human tissues or fluids.
