2-Ethoxyacetyl chloride (EAC) is a chemical compound with the formula CH2OC(O)CH3. It is a colorless liquid that is soluble in water and polar organic solvents. 2-Ethoxyacetyl chloride has been shown to have anticancer activity in animals. It also exhibits structural similarity to glutamate receptor subtype, which may contribute to its anticancer properties.
EAC has been found to inhibit the metabolic activation of some carcinogens, such as nitrosamines, by modifying their metabolic profiles. This inhibition may result from EAC's ability to act as an amide group donor or acceptor.
