Epibrassinolide is a bioactive compound that belongs to the group of ecdysteroids. It has been used as a model system for studying light signal transduction in plants. Epibrassinolide interacts with the α subunit of phytochrome and increases the linear calibration curve of photosynthetic activity. It also regulates transcriptional regulation and redox potential, which are important biochemical properties for this type of compound. Epibrassinolide is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes to form epibrassinolone and its metabolites have antioxidative properties.
