Ethoxyacetic acid is a toxic chemical that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other chemicals. It has been shown to cause hemolytic activity, which may be due to its ability to bind to proteins and destroy red blood cells. Chronic exposure to ethoxyacetic acid can lead to testicular degeneration and decreased sperm production in males. Ethoxyacetic acid also inhibits energy metabolism by inhibiting the uptake of glucose into erythrocytes.
