Etilefrine hydrochloride is a pharmaceutical drug that belongs to the class of drugs with a hydroxyl group. It has been studied in vitro and found to have cardiac effects. Etilefrine hydrochloride may cause drug reactions, such as skin rash, nausea, and vomiting. Hydrogen bonding is the most likely mechanism for this drug's action on target tissue. This drug has been shown to increase systolic pressure in clinical studies with humans. Etilefrine hydrochloride is used in pharmaceutical dosage forms for the treatment of conjunctivitis and cardiac disorders. It is also used in wastewater treatment plants to improve chemical stability and reduce pentobarbital sodium levels.
