Descripción:Ethyl 4-nitrocinnamate is an organic compound that is a white solid. It is soluble in water and has a density of 1.12 g/cm3. Ethyl 4-nitrocinnamate has been used as a ligand for coordination complexes with a variety of metal ions, including alkali metals, such as sodium and potassium. The reaction rate of ethyl 4-nitrocinnamate with diazoacetate is slow, but the rate increases when chloride ion is added to the reaction solution. The addition of nitrovinyl chloride to the reaction solution causes an increase in the reaction rate. This may be due to its ability to stabilize the ethyl cinnamate intermediate formed during the first step of the reaction process.
