Descripción

Ethylene glycol methyl ether acrylate is a chemical compound that contains both a hydroxyl group and a polycarboxylic acid. It is used in the production of polymers, paints, and coatings. Ethylene glycol methyl ether acrylate is soluble in water and has an unsaturated alkyl group. It can be synthesized by reacting ethylene glycol with acrylic acid in the presence of sodium hydroxide solution. This reaction produces ethylene glycol methyl ether acrylate, which can then be polymerized to form a polymer. A light exposure causes it to undergo cleavage of the ester bond, which leads to formation of hydrogen bond with the hydroxyl group and release of monomeric acrylic acid.
