2-Ethylhexyl glycidyl ether is a low-energy epoxide that is used in industrial chemicals. It has been shown to be genotoxic, inducing DNA damage and chromosomal aberrations. 2-Ethylhexyl glycidyl ether also induces cellular transformation in hamster v79 cells and other mammalian cells. This compound has also been shown to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS), which are implicated in the development of many diseases, including cancer.
