Trans-4-ethylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid is a perfluorinated acid that has the chemical formula C5H11COOF. It is a colorless liquid with a boiling point of around 200 degrees Celsius. Trans-4-ethylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid is used as an extractant for many organic compounds, such as pesticides and herbicides, from water, soil and plants. It is also used in microextraction for profiling applications. The main use of this compound is in desorption techniques where it can be used to remove pollutants from soils or from the atmosphere.
