Ethylene glycol monoacetoacetate monomethacrylate is a metal chelate that is used to treat muscle diseases. It has been shown to act as a gamma-aminobutyric acid agonist and inhibit the release of acetylcholine from nerve endings. This drug can also be used as a chemical stabilizer in the synthesis of polymers in organic chemistry. Ethylene glycol monoacetoacetate monomethacrylate is insoluble in water and soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone, or benzene. It has been found to have a phase transition temperature at -139°C, which is suitable for applications that require low temperatures.
