Descripción

Ellipticine is a natural product that inhibits the activity of the P-glycoprotein (P-gp) transporter. It binds to the guanine residues in cells, thereby inhibiting cellular functions. Ellipticine has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial function, leading to cell death by apoptosis and necrosis. Ellipticine also binds to DNA, intercalating between nucleotide bases and preventing DNA replication. This compound is active against a broad range of cancer cell lines, including those resistant to other chemotherapeutic agents such as cisplatin.
