Descripción:3-Ethoxybenzoic acid is an organic compound that is used as a ligand in biochemistry. It has been shown to be active in the monooxygenase activity of human cytochrome P450 enzymes, including CYP1A2 and CYP3A4. 3-Ethoxybenzoic acid binds to the ferredoxin molecule, which is a hydrogen-accepting cofactor found in many electron transfer reactions. The orientation of 3-ethoxybenzoic acid with respect to the ferredoxin molecule determines its catalytic activity. Crystallography studies have revealed that 3-ethoxybenzoic acid can bind to two water molecules and one hydroxide ion, stabilizing the ferredoxin molecule and increasing its catalytic activity.
