Epoxylathyrol is a phorbol ester that inhibits the efflux pump in bacterial cells and acts as a multidrug. Epoxylathyrol has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria, including Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter cloacae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It also exhibits an inhibitory effect on yeast cells. This compound has been shown to have cytotoxic activity against mammalian cells in vitro and can be used for the treatment of cancer. Epoxylathyrol has also been shown to have other properties such as antioxidant activities.
