Ethyl 4-fluoro-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylate is a pyrazole compound that is used as an inhibitor of the enzyme pyrazole reductase. This enzyme catalyzes the reduction of 4-hydroxybenzoxazole to 3,4-dihydroxybenzoxazole in bacteria, fungi and plants. The inhibition of this enzyme results in an accumulation of 4-hydroxybenzoxazoles, which are then available for further metabolism by other enzymes. The substitution at the 1 position with a fluorine atom increases the selectivity of ethyl 4-fluoro-1H-pyrazole-3 carboxylate and reduces its toxicity.
