It is used as an additive to create a nonflammable atmosphere for welding or to increase the rate of combustion in gas turbines. The chemical can also be used as a solvent for organic compounds. 1-Ethoxy-1,1,2,3,3,3-Hexafluoro-2-(Trifluoromethyl)Propane may be used as an antimicrobial agent against matrix metalloproteinase (MMP), which plays an important role in the degradation of extracellular matrix and basement membranes. 1-Ethoxy-1,1,2,3,3,3-Hexafluoro-2-(Trifluoromethyl)Propane is also an effective inhibitor
