Ethyl 4-butoxy-5-fluoro-2,6-dioxohexahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate is a drug that has been used in clinical studies for the treatment of primary brain tumors. It has shown clinical response rates of up to 87%, with the most favourable response observed in patients with low tumor grade and well differentiated histology. The drug is administered orally and penetrates tissues, including the central nervous system. Ethyl 4-butoxy-5-fluoro-2,6-dioxohexahydropyrimidine-5 carboxylate has been found to be toxic to ameloblasts and cancer cells in vitro. Tumor regression was observed in animals treated with ethyl 4 butoxy 5 fluoro 2 6 dioxohexahydropyrimidine 5 carboxylate, which led to decreased symptoms such as weight loss and cachexia.
