It has hydrophobic properties and is used in the manufacture of polyurethane to extend the carbon chains and improve surface properties. This product is also used as a permeation enhancer for topical preparations and as an extender in platelet gel. The fluorine atoms in this product are important because they provide permeation chromatography with high resolution.
