This molecule also has been validated by descriptor regression to predict its hydrophobicities. 4-Fluoro-2-nitrotoluene is synthesized from 2,4 dichloro nitrobenzene by treatment with sodium nitrite in dry acetone followed by hydrochloric acid. The functionalities on this molecule include fluoro (at position 2), arene (at position 3), and nitro (at position 5).
