2-[(3Z)-6-Fluoro-2-methyl-3-[(4-methylsulfinylphenyl)methylidene]inden-1-yl]acetic acid (DHA) is a terpene that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects and to inhibit the proliferation of cells. It has been shown to lower the production of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), which is associated with chronic arthritis. DHA also inhibits angiogenesis, which is the formation of new blood vessels from pre-existing ones, and thus may be useful in treating congestive heart failure. Patients who took DHA for three months had a significant decrease in diastolic pressure as well as a reduction in resistances mutants, which are bacteria that have developed resistance against antibiotics. The effects of DHA were tested in a double blind cross over study on healthy volunteers, with blood sampling done before and after taking the drug.
