5-(2-Fluoroethyl)-1-[(2R,3S,4R,5R)-3-Fluoro-4-Hydroxy-5-(Hydroxymethyl)Oxolan-2-Yl]Pyrimidine-2,4-Dione is a synthetic antiviral drug that inhibits the protein synthesis of the virus. It binds to the target tissue where it inhibits viral replication and encapsulation. 5-(2-Fluoroethyl)-1-[(2R,3S,4R,5R)-3-Fluoro-4-Hydroxy-5-(Hydroxymethyl)Oxolan-2-Yl]Pyrimidine-2,4-Dione is an analog of a natural product found in the cell culture and has shown inhibitory effects against uninfected cells.
