8-Fluoro-5-(2-fluoro-18F)ethyl)-5,6-dihydro-6-oxo-4H-imidazo(1,5a)(1,4)benzodiazepine 3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester is a synthetic radioligand that binds to the benzodiazepine receptor. It has been used as a research tool for studying the binding of benzodiazepines to receptors in humans and animals. 8F-[18F]EFDZCAE is an unlabelled positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent that can be used for the diagnosis of hepatic diseases. PET scans with 8F-[18F]EFDZCAE are currently being used clinically in patients with epilepsy or other neurological disorders.
