It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting the activity of protein S6. This agent also inhibits the function of a factor receptor, which is involved in cell growth, and blocks the synthesis of a protein (protein s6) that activates growth factors. 2-Fluoro-3-nitropyridine has also been shown to have anticancer effects on breast cancer xenografts in mice.
