4-Fluorobenzophenone belongs to a class of compounds called aryl halides. They are monomers that form polymers with ether linkages. The chemical biology of 4-fluorobenzophenone has been studied, revealing its uptake and high values in the nmr spectra. This compound is nucleophilic, which means it will react with electrophiles such as hydroxyl groups to form ether bonds. 4-Fluorobenzophenone is also able to react with nitrogen atoms, forming diphenyl ethers.
