The compound binds to the ATP binding site of Plk1 and prevents ATP from binding, which leads to inhibition of the kinase activity. 2FMBA also inhibits the growth of cells by disrupting mitosis through interference with microtubule formation. This drug can be taken orally and has demonstrated good tolerability in clinical trials.
