The macrocycle has been synthesized by the reaction of pyrrole with ferrocene in the presence of lithium chloride. The structure of the molecule has been confirmed by x-ray crystallography and functional theory calculations. The linker between the ferrocene moiety and phenyl rings was determined to be imine using crystallography techniques.
