Descripción

Fullerene C60 is a type of fullerene molecule with a spherical shape. Fullerenes are molecules made up of carbon atoms that form a hollow sphere. Fullerenes are classified as organic compounds because they contain carbon and hydrogen, but they are more stable than most other organic compounds. Fullerenes have been shown to be useful in wastewater treatment and as nanotubes for biological applications. They also have the potential to be stable complexes and basic structures for reactions involving kinetic energy.
Fullerene C60 has been shown to react with H2O at high temperatures, forming HO-C-C-OH, or water with a hydroxyl group on one end. This reaction mechanism is similar to the mechanism for the oxidation of methane (CH4) to methanol (CH3OH).
