2-Fluoro-5-nitrobenzenesulfonyl chloride is a sulfonated organic compound. It is prepared by the reaction of 5-fluoro-2-nitroaniline with oleum, or by the hydrolysis of 2-fluoro-5-nitrobenzenesulfonic acid. This chemical can be used to synthesize diazonium salts and sulfate esters. It has been used for the preparation of sulfonated polymers and other polymer derivatives. 2-Fluoro-5-nitrobenzenesulfonyl chloride has also been used in the synthesis of anilines and phenols, as well as in the production of nitrophenols.
