Fenthion is a chemical pesticide that inhibits the activity of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase and blocks the transmission of nerve impulses, resulting in paralysis and death. Fenthion can be used to control agricultural pests such as rodents, insects, and mites. It has shown toxicity against human serum, liver tissues, and erythrocytes. Fenthion is a neurotoxin that disrupts energy metabolism in cells by inhibiting cellular respiration. The presence of fenthion can be determined using an analytical method that measures the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products of DNA after exposure to the drug.
