2-Fluoro-3-hydroxypyridine (2FP) is a synthetic compound that binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and inhibits the release of acetylcholine. 2FP has been shown to inhibit the uptake of radioactive fluorine by tissues, which is caused by its ability to bind to carbon resonances. The uptake of radioactive fluorine by tissues can be used as an indicator for the presence of 2FP in a tissue sample. This compound has not been found to have any biological properties, but it does react with various functional groups such as amino acids, proteins and nucleic acids.
