It has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by binding to the gyrase enzyme, which is essential for DNA replication. 3-Fluoro-4-(4-morpholinyl) benzenamine also inhibits protein synthesis by topoisomerase inhibition and has been shown to be effective against a wide range of bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter cloacae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Serratia marcescens, and Staphylococcus aureus. 3-Fluoro-4-(4-morpholinyl) benzenamine has low toxicity in humans because it reacts with nitric oxide (NO), producing harmless fluoroacetate
