FP-biotin is a biotin analog that is active as a ligand for hepg2 cells. It has been used as an analytical tool to measure the activity of target enzymes such as serine proteases, which are involved in the regulation of lipid metabolism. FP-biotin has also been shown to have reactive properties and can be used to study the toxicity profiles of chemicals. FP-biotin binds to adenine nucleotides, fatty acids, and serine protease inhibitors and inhibits their activity. FP-biotin has been shown to have hepatocyte-like effects in mice deficient in biotin and can be used for the treatment of fatty liver disease.
