4-Fluoro-2-methoxypyridine is an organic compound that has two functional groups: one is a hydroxyl group and the other is a nitro group. It can be prepared by cleaving ethers with hydrofluoric acid and reacting the resulting alkyl halides with trimethylsilyl chloride. 4-Fluoro-2-methoxypyridine can also be synthesized by treatment of uracil with n-oxide in the presence of a base. The drug has been used in preparations to treat tuberculosis, leprosy, and malaria.
